Why Join IBA?

Hummmm, let's see . . . Government Relations and Legislation - IBA has worked to build relationships with both federal and state legislators and broadcasters so legislators know what issues affect the broadcast industry, the general public, and the role broadcasters play in providing community service . We also employ a lobbyist, Mike McClain, to help us in our lobbying efforts. Legal Counsel - IBA retains legal counsel at both the state and federal levels through the services of Donald M. Craven, PC in Springfield, Illinois and Pillsbury, Winthrop and Shaw Pittman, LLP in Washington DC. Our local attorney provides counsel on the popular lottery, raffle and liquor advertisements questions and our Washington DC attorney keeps us up to date on all FCC related topics. Both attorneys are available to our members by connecting with the IBA office. EEO Outreach - IBA has formulated four different resources for members to utilize to help them meet FCC EEO Outreach requirements. EEO1Source, a web-based program which helps our members disseminate job openings, tracks information for your license renewals, and is hacker proof. EEO Outreach Contact List, IBA maintains one outreach list created from various member contact lists and can be distributed to our members for their own dissemination of job openings. Website Job Postings, our members are given a password so they may post their own job openings to our website as an additional resource for EEO outreach. Lastly, IBA hosts at least two Career Fairs per year to provide a way for our broadcasters to meet more of their FCC EEO Outreach credits. Continuing Education - Not only does IBA pull together the most current topics and speakers during our annual convention to make it easy for our broadcast members to make the most of the day, but we also schedule at least two other continuing education opportunities during the year. These opportunities are provided at little or no cost to our members. Alternate Broadcast Inspection Program - The IBA and the Chicago Field Office of the FCC provides Illinois member stations the opportunity to be voluntarily inspected by an approved IBA Inspector at a very low cost. Promoting the Growth of Future Broadcasters - IBA recognizes the need to develop future broadcasters. To that end, IBAcademics, the Multicultural Internship Program, and two annual events targeting high school (The Multicultural Broadcast Workshop) and college age students (IBA-U) have been developed. Awards for Excellence - Whether it's the Silver Dome Awards, Broadcaster of the Year, Lifetime Achievement or The Everett McKinley Dirksen Distinguished Service Awards, IBA doesn't miss an opportunity to make sure excellence is recognized during our annual conventions. Providing quality member services to our members is important to us. You can find out more information about each of the areas listed above just by browsing the pages on our website. We also welcome any questions you may have about any of these resources. You may call us at 618-985-5555. Now that you are ready to Join IBA, our membership form is available to "Click" and download. Just fill it out and fax it to our office. (Please see our Member Dues Information sheet for your rate.) We welcome your membership!
