Richard Zaragoza-EEO Update Session


 


Richard Zaragoza, IBA’s legal counsel from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman provides the latest information on EEO Compliance, new 2008 filings, and maintaining public inspection files.  Session designed for Human Resources staff and continues at 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm with the addition of Lisa Yankowitz, The Workplace Educator.


 


 


Doug Harris-The Creative Animal’s Good Copy, Great Spot Workshop-

Doug has written copy for clients of all sizes and budgets and his spots have sold everything from cars to cola.  In this two part session, Harris will share his tips on composition and production and play examples of work that has kept his clients happy.  Bring along your laptop for the second part of this session and participate alongside Doug in this exciting writing workshop.

New Technologies in the Workplace-Do you allow your employees to use email or the internet, to instant message or blog?  Do you Google applicants or use Facebook to learn more about them?  If so, you might be creating for yourself and your company some legal vulnerability without even realizing it.  What about this… are you prepared for a request for e-discovery, or electronic discovery?  Do you even know what this means?  New technologies in the workplace may be helping us work more effectively and efficiently, but they also come with all sorts of legal pitfalls.  The more aware you are of the different technologies and their respective issues, the more you will be able to work smarter, both practically and legally.

General Manager Legislative Update Happy Hour

It’s the return of the “What’s not to be happy-about” Happy Hour featuring a panel discussion about today’s legislative climate for radio and television broadcasters along with an assortment of beverages and snacks. 


 


2008 Silver Dome Awards


 


Winners of the IBA 2008 Silver Dome Awards will be announced, Tuesday, June 17th from the steps of the 1860 White House inside the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, courtesy of AT&T.  IBA guests will have full access to the museum during the 7:00 pm pre-event reception and immediately following the awards presentation.  Dinner will be served in the Plaza with a 360 degree view of the life of our nation’s 16th President, Abraham Lincoln as Illinois celebrates the Bicentennial of Lincoln.  2007 Miss Illinois Ashley Hatfield will assist with the award presentation.


 


Broadcaster of the Year- Leo Henning of Barrington Broadcasting will be honored as IBA’s 2008 Vincent T. Wasilewski Broadcaster of the Year on this evening when the best of the best in Illinois are recognized.  Award presentation is part of the Silver Dome Banquet.

Convention Brochure Now On-line

In just a few days the complete IBA2008 convention brochure will arrive in your mailbox, but while you are waiting you might want to view the entire line-up of speakers and sessions by taking a look at the on-line brochure.


IBA2008 is "Showing You the Money" with a great line-up of speakers and affordable ticket options.  The Best Value Ticket includes admission to everything for just $99.  That includes the morning sessions on new technologies, the IBA2008 60th Anniversary Luncheon, all afternoon sessions, and the evening's Silver Dome Awards Banquet.  Add it all up and you have morning refreshments, lunch, afternoon reception, evening reception, dinner and up to 16 sessions by industry leaders.


For just $40 you can attend as many afternoon sessions that you can get to.  Your choice of sessions include Sean Luce, Doug Harris, John Tkac, Lisa Yankowitz and of course RAB's Jeff Haley and TVB's Jack Poor.  No meals are included with this ticket but with our convenient location in downtown Springfield there are many dinning choices within walking distance.


Just coming for Silver Domes?  We can't imagine why you would want to miss our day's worth of sessions but if you are the person that your station cannot do without for the day and you just want to come to hear your name called at the Silver Dome Awards, we have a $60 Silver Dome Banquet ticket for you.  This ticket includes a 6:30 pm admission to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and full access to the museum, a welcoming reception, and dinner served by Augie's Front Burner of Springfield.  The awards presentations begin just after dinner.  Leo Henning will be awarded the Vincent T. Wasilewski "Broadcaster of the Year' award and 84 Silver Dome Awards will be presented to the "Best of the Best" in Illinois broadcasting.
